What is a power flush
A power flush is the name given to a cleansing process with the aim to remove all deposits of corrosion circulating or locked in your central heating system. This debris is commonly referred to as sludge or rust. Its given name is magnetite and gives the water a black colour or in some cases orange. A power flush is not always necessary to clean a system to a good standard. We use this technique when a system is heavily deposited with magnetite.
Signs you need a power flush
- Slow warming of heating system
- Cold spots on radiators generally bottom centre
- Noisy boiler or system pump
- Boiler regularly requires resetting, may show overheat fault
- Sludge in loft tank
- Discoloured water when bleeding radiators
If you wish for us to carry out a power flush on your system our price guide is £250 for up to 10 radiators with £40 added for each extra radiator after that. We only use the best quality chemicals and filters the market has to offer and issue a power flush certificate at the end of the process. We always recommend a central heating filter be installed as part of the power flush process to protect the boiler thereafter, we fit these at a discounted price of £120.
